In order to create assignments, you will first need to create a class. Other assignment types you can create include:

In addition to traditional playing assignments and audio/video recording assignments, paid teachers can also define custom Multiple Choice assignments for their students to complete within MakeMusic Cloud.

Creating Multiple Choice assignments

To create a multiple choice assignment, click the Create button in the main navigation.

From there, click the Multiple Choice assignment type:

Enter an Assignment Name that will appear for your students, along with any required instructions. All multiple-choice assignments are graded automatically, so there is no need to create a rubric or grading criteria. Simply enter the total number of points for the assignment and click Create.

You may now enter your questions and answer choices. Once you have entered your answer choices for a question, click the radio button next to the correct answer.

You can also attach images to questions and answer choices, if desired:

Tip: If you want to create musical notation to use in your questions, try opening the Compose tool in another browser tab so you can quickly create your notation, save a screenshot, and then attach it in the quiz builder tab.

Image names are hidden from students, so you can name your image files anything you’d like on your computer without giving away the answer. The Alt text and Option fields, however, will be visible to students. If you choose to enter text there, describe the image but avoid including any names or terms that might give away the correct answer.

As you define your questions and answers, your progress will be saved automatically. If you need to stop and come back later to finish defining your assignment, you can simply leave the page and pick up where you left off later.

To continue editing a previously created assignment, go to your Assignments in the main navigation:

Click the All tab, and select the assignment you want to work on. Click the Edit button to open it in the quiz builder.

Once your assignment is complete and all questions have a correct answer marked, the Next button will be enabled. This allows you to assign it to one or more classes, or to individual students.

Completing a Multiple Choice assignment

When students receive a multiple-choice assignment, they will get the standard notifications they have configured for other assignment types. They can open the assignment from their notifications dropdown or by visiting their Class page:

Once a student starts a multiple-choice assignment, their progress is automatically saved. If they close their browser or their device shuts down, the assignment will resume exactly where they left off the next time they open it.

Once the student has answered all questions, they will have the option to Submit their assignment:

Their grade will be calculated automatically based on your answer key, and their overall score will be shown to them immediately:

Clicking See Details will let them review their correct and incorrect answers in the gradebook. However, they cannot make any changes to their answers unless the assignment is reassigned to them. This detailed view is only available to students after their assignment has been submitted.

Grading Multiple Choice assignments

As the teacher, multiple choice assignments your students submit will be automatically graded in your gradebook when they submit them; no grading is required on your part! If you want to review the student’s answers, override the automatic grade, or reassign back to the student to try again, you can do these actions from the gradebook:
