This tutorial will show you how to create large mutlimeasure rests inside of MakeMusic Cloud's Compose app. To start, you will need all of the measures you wish to condense into a multimeasure rest on the same system using the steps below: 

1. Open the piece where you wish to create a large multimeasure rest in the Compose app.
2. Select Score > Page Layout . The Page Layout options appear.
   
   
   
3. Click on the system containing some or all the measures you wish to move to another system. The system becomes highlighted and the System Layout tools appear.
   
   
4. Use the large arrow buttons  to move the appropriate measures you wish to include in your multimeasure rest on to the same system.  Moves the first measure of a system to the end of the previous system, and  moves the last measure of a system to the beginning of the next system.
   
   
5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 as necessary.
   
   

Now that all of the measures you wish to include in your multimeasure rest are on the same system, you can create a multimeasure rest by following the steps below:

1.  Choose the Selection Tool  and click in the first measure of the system of rests. The measure becomes highlighted.
   
   
2. Press and hold the SHIFT key on your computer keyboard and click on the last measure to be included in the multimeasure rest. The group of measures become highlighted.
   
   
3. Select Multimeasure Rests in the left-hand side Edit Selection menu and click Apply. A multimeasure rest appears.
   
   
4. Use the Page Layout and System Layout tools to edit your document as needed.
